One purchase, three platforms

Pro yearly or lifetime works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac under one Apple Account. The mainland China App Store follows after ICP app filing.

Install on a phone

  1. Open this page on the phone and tap Download APK.
  2. Open the downloaded file. When asked, allow the browser to install unknown apps (once).
  3. Tap Install. Some phones warn that the app did not come from a store; that is normal for a direct download. Check the SHA-256 below if you want to be sure.

Install on a TV box

Pick the right package first. Most recent boxes and Android TV sets are 64-bit and take arm64-v8a. If the installer says there was a problem parsing the package or that the app is not compatible, use armeabi-v7a. Both need Android 7.0 or later.

Option 1: USB stick (works almost everywhere)

  1. Download the APK on a computer, copy it to a USB stick, and plug it into the box.
  2. In the box’s Settings, allow the file manager to install unknown apps. It is usually under Security, Apps, or Developer options, depending on the brand.
  3. Open the APK from the USB stick in the box’s file manager and choose Install.

Option 2: the box’s browser

  1. In the box’s browser, go to xana.janzhao.com/en/download and choose Download APK with the remote (armeabi-v7a below for 32-bit boxes).
  2. Open the file when it finishes. The first time, allow the browser to install apps.

Option 3: adb from a computer

Turn on USB debugging or network debugging in the box’s developer options, find its IP under About › Network, then run this on a computer with Android SDK Platform-Tools:

adb install -r xana-0.9.0-arm64-v8a.apk

Xana then appears on the TV home screen (Android TV Leanback launcher supported). Use the D-pad to move, OK to open, and Back to go back. If a control can’t be reached with the remote, tell us the box model.

Verify the file (optional)

Compute the SHA-256 of the downloaded file on a computer. If it matches the value above, the file is complete and unmodified:

Updates

When a newer version is out, the Android app says so at launch, and Download opens this page, which picks the package for your device. Install the new package over the old one; settings and servers are kept. The 64-bit and 32-bit packages can’t replace each other, so stay with the one you have.

Pro on Android

The Android build is not in a store, so Pro is unlocked with an activation code: paste it in Settings › General › Xana Pro. The check happens on the device with no sign-in. The purchase page will be announced on this site.
